Continuing its commitment to development, Chairperson of the Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board, Dr. Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for several projects across Pulwama district today.

Dr. Andrabi commenced the day by inaugurating the newly constructed Jamia Masjid in Newa, a project initiated under her leadership and completed after 30 years. Following this, she unveiled the newly constructed Shopping Complex by the Waqf Board at Kakapora and laid the foundation stone of the Hazrat Mehda Bab Rishi (RA) Complex, also in Kakapora.
During her visit, Dr. Darakhshan engaged with various public delegations in Pulwama and addressed a public gathering, underscoring the importance of community involvement in development initiatives.

Accompanying her were esteemed members of the Waqf Board including Syed Mohammed Hussain, Dr. Ghulaam Nabi Haleem, Magistrate Ishtiyaq Mohiuddin, Executive Engineer Tariq Kaloo, and socio-political leader Arshad Bhat from Pulwama, among others. Representatives from various departments also joined the visit.

In her address, Dr. Darakhshan highlighted the significant shift in the work culture of the Waqf Board since 2022, emphasizing transparency, accountability, and enhanced public engagement as key pillars of governance.

“We are now utilizing resources from the Waqf Board for construction works at major shrines, a departure from the past where these funds were often misused,” she stated.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Jammu & Kashmir has witnessed substantial transformation, reflected in the revamped functioning of the Waqf Board. Dr. Darakhshan reiterated the Board’s commitment to fulfilling the aspirations of the people and expressed gratitude for the public’s trust and support in the Board’s endeavors.
