Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar backed his government’s decision to release an advertisement calling for the recruitment of 10,000 construction workers who will be sent to Israel. He stated, ‘Nobody is being forced to go, and it’s their choice whether they want to go or not.

The Haryana government has released an advertisement recruiting 10,000 construction workers to address the acute shortage of laborers in Israel, a country locked in a war with Hamas for over two months. Manohar Lal Khattar explained, ‘We are ready to supply manpower where there is a need in different countries. Israel requested 1,000 manpower, and we released an advertisement for skilled individuals to apply. There are many countries with a demand for manpower, and the youth should be sent systematically, considering all legal procedures. He emphasized, ‘Nobody is being forced to go, and it’s not that no one lives in Israel. Earlier, people from different nations used to come; now, our people will go, and we have provided a legal channel for them.’The Israeli construction sector has requested the Indian government to allow companies to hire up to 100,000 workers from India to replace the 90,000 Palestinians who lost their work permits since the start of the Israel-Hamas war. The sector is currently facing a labor shortage due to the cancellation of work permits for Palestinian workers after the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7. Haim Feiglin, the vice president of the Israel Builders Association, stated, ‘Right now, we are negotiating with India and waiting for the Israeli government’s decision to approve that. We hope to engage 50,000 to 100,000 workers from India to run the sector and bring it back to normal. He added, ‘We are at war, and the Palestinian workers, constituting about 25% of our human resources in the sector, are not coming and are not permitted to work in Israel.

In response to the government’s decision, former Haryana CM Deepender Singh Hooda, during a press conference, said, ‘This government does not provide jobs; it’s a non-performing and corrupt one.
