Violence erupts in Delhi’s Tihar jail, 2 inmates injured in scuffle

A violent altercation occurred between two groups of inmates at Central Jail No. 1 in Delhi’s Tihar Jail, as confirmed by a prison official. On Monday at approximately 12:40 p.m., an inmate named Alok assaulted Rahul using a makeshift knife and a tile. The clash resulted in severe injuries for both parties involved, who have since been hospitalized at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Hospital.

The prison official provided a statement regarding the incident: “At Central Jail No. 1, Tihar (Ward No. 02), Rahul alias Pawan was attacked by a few inmates using an improvised knife, handmade sua, and a tile, causing injuries to Rahul. Alok alias Vishal, one of the attackers, also sustained self-inflicted injuries following the incident. Prompt intervention by the jail staff, TSP, and Quick Response Team successfully separated the involved inmates.”
