During the opening day of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, Lakshmi Mittal, the Chairperson of ArcelorMittal, praised the event’s well-established framework, rooted in ideas, imagination, and procedural continuity. Recalling his visit in September of the previous year, Mittal shared insights into Prime Minister Modi’s visionary theme for the summit, ‘One Earth, One Family, and One Future,’ predicting that it would significantly enhance India’s standing on the global stage.
Mittal recounted Prime Minister Modi’s briefing during his visit in September, highlighting how the mega-global event has institutionalized its structure based on ideas, imagination, and procedural consistency. Mittal reiterated the Prime Minister’s belief that India’s pride would be elevated with the theme of ‘One Earth, One Family, and One Future.’
Emphasizing the Hazira expansion, inaugurated by PM Modi in 2021, Mittal outlined the ambitious timeline for the project, with phase one expected to be completed by 2026. He also disclosed that the second phase, marked by a substantial Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing, is projected to conclude by 2029, transforming the expanded facility into the world’s largest steel plant with a production capacity of 24 million tons.
Mittal expressed enthusiasm for the project, noting its significant role in the global steel industry. He added, “Not just steel, Arcelor Mittal is investing in renewable energy and green hydrogen as well.” The expansion aligns with India’s commitment to industrial growth and positions ArcelorMittal as a key player in the steel sector.
As the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit unfolds, it not only serves as a platform for business interactions but also provides industry leaders like Lakshmi Mittal with an opportunity to showcase their commitment to India’s economic development and global prominence. Mittal’s positive remarks during the summit underscore the confidence and optimism prevalent among global investors and industrialists participating in this prestigious event.
