On Friday morning, renowned artist Karuvattu Mana Vasudevan Namboothiri, also known as artist Namboothiri, died. He was 98.
He was being treated at a private hospital in the Malappuram district for age-related problems. Namboothiri, an artist, worked as an art director in a few films and in numerous periodicals. He played a number of significant roles in Malayalam film.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly A.N. Shamseer, and Union Minister for State V Muraleedharan all offered their condolences on his demise.
Shashi Tharoor, a Congress MP, also expressed sadness at the death of the great musician.
“Mourning the passing of legendary Kerala artist Namboothiri at the age of 97. After a lifetime of drawing in black&white (his illustrations were famed across the state), at age 82 he took up colour and dazzled the world with works of vivid exuberance. A special talent. #OmShanti,” Tharoor stated.
