Uttarakhand Government Focused on Developing Villages to Curb Migration: CM Dhami

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasized his government’s efforts to develop villages in the state to curb economic migration. Speaking during his two-day visit to Sarkot village in the Gairsain block of Chamoli, CM Dhami highlighted the steps being taken to strengthen rural infrastructure and promote self-reliance.

PM Modi’s Vision of ‘Adarsh Gram’

CM Dhami stated that the state government is aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of transforming villages into ‘Adarsh Grams’ (ideal villages). “Effective work is being done to strengthen villages and stop migration,” he said while addressing residents of Sarkot.

The Chief Minister was warmly welcomed by the villagers upon his arrival. During his visit, he offered prayers at the Kot Bhairav temple, seeking prosperity and happiness for the state and the nation.

CM Dhami also visited the family of Havildar Vasudev Singh, a soldier who lost his life during duty in Leh-Ladakh in August this year. He offered his condolences and assured the family of the state’s support. To honor the martyr, the Bhararisain Sarkot road will be named after Vasudev Singh, as announced by the Chief Minister.

Financial Assistance for Local Initiatives

The Chief Minister handed over a cheque of ₹1 lakh to the Sarkot Mahila Mangal Dal for purchasing cultural materials and other resources. He also announced the provision of machines to Mahila Mangal Dal and self-help groups for packaging local products.

Highlighting the government’s efforts to enhance employment opportunities, CM Dhami said the state has implemented strict anti-copying laws to ensure transparency in recruitment exams. “To date, more than 100 cheaters have been jailed under the anti-cheating law, resulting in 18,500 youths securing government jobs and contributing to the state’s development,” he said.

The government is also focusing on promoting self-employment through various schemes to make Uttarakhand a leading state in the country.

Infrastructure Development Plans

CM Dhami detailed ongoing and upcoming infrastructure projects, including:

  • Badrinath Dham Development: The holy site is being transformed into a “divine and grand” destination under PM Modi’s guidance.
  • Airstrip Projects: Efforts are underway to make the Gauchar airstrip operational and explore airstrip construction possibilities in Chaukhutia to improve connectivity.
  • Rail Connectivity: The people of Chamoli district will soon benefit from railway services at Karnaprayag, enhancing regional mobility.

New Land Law for Protection and Development

The Chief Minister announced plans to introduce a new land law aimed at protecting the rights of Uttarakhand’s residents and fostering sustainable development.

CM Dhami declared several measures to uplift Sarkot, including:

  • Asphalting of the Bhararisain Sarkot road.
  • Beautification and strengthening of the Kot Bhairav temple.
  • Transforming Sarkot into an ideal village.

The visit concluded with a cultural performance by local women, who presented the traditional Jhumailo dance. The Chief Minister joined the dance, symbolizing his engagement with the community.

CM Dhami’s visit to Sarkot reflects the Uttarakhand government’s commitment to rural development, self-employment promotion, and honoring the state’s heritage and martyrs. The outlined initiatives aim to address migration challenges and foster holistic growth in the state.
