UP: Two Persons Fall While Trying To Rescue Man In Hardoi

A rescue operation goes awry, as two persons land in hospital, after a man climbed an overhead water tank in Uttar Pradesh’s Hardoi, made peculiar demands, and didn’t come down for over 12 hours.

When two persons came to rescue the man, the latter threw them off the tank. As a result, they landed on the ground and sustaining injuries.

Earlier, the man climbed the water tank on the premises of Hardoi station. Subsequently, he began hurling stones at pedestrians. Later, railway protection force officers arrived at the scene and urged the man to come down, but he declined. As the officers attempted to climb, he started throwing stones, thus, prompting them to abandon the operation.

Then, firefighters intervened, and attempted to persuade the man to come down, but their efforts were unsuccessful.

As evening approached, the man remained at top of the tank. Throughout this time, he demanded chicken, alcohol, and money.

Despite being provided with food and offered cash, he didn’t yield. Eventually, the GRP dispatched two local residents to facilitate his descent. However, upon their arrival, the man pushed them, causing them to fall from the tank. Subsequently, all three individuals were hospitalized.

Eventually, the railway men came to the tank’s top and convinced the man to come down.

After reaching hospital, he revealed to media, He’s Aditya Mahato from Bihar. When asked, why he climbed, he alleged that he was being pursued by goons and was attempting to escape.

But he did not provide further details over who was chasing him or the reason behind it.

The decision of railway authorities to enlist local residents to assist in bringing the man down has raised questions. Ramji Gupta, one of the injured parties, informed the media that GRP officers instructed them to climb the tank and bring the man’s down.

Later, senior police officer Nripendra Kumar, alleged, that the man was mentally ill.
