UP POLICE LIST OF GANGSTERS CAUSES TREMORS

A list purportedly prepared by the UP Police containing the names of criminals who might face action in the coming days as part of the crackdown on organised crime gangs is causing severe unease among politicians. The names are from different castes, communities, and regions and are said to be involved in illicit trade in liquor, cattle smuggling, land grabbing, illegal mining, and extortion. There is a bounty on the heads of these most wanted criminals, and those politicians who have been even remotely associated with any of them are frantically trying to erase all signs of such links. It is believed that the police will initiate action once CM Yogi Adityanath approves the list.
