Union Minister Gadkari launches Rs 4,000 crore National Highway projects in Punjab

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated and laid foundation stones for 29 national highway projects worth Rs 4,000 crore in Punjab on Wednesday, including significant developments like the Ladhowal bypass in Ludhiana, a six-lane flyover, a two-lane road over bridge in Ludhiana, the four-laning of the Jalandhar-Kapurthala section, and three bridges on the Jalandhar-Makhu road.

During his address, Gadkari emphasized the BJP-led government’s commitment, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in constructing expressways, including green ones, which effectively reduce distances between destinations. He specifically highlighted the initiation of various projects, such as the four-laning of the Hoshiarpur-Phagwara road and the Ferozepur bypass.

Additionally, Gadkari mentioned the ongoing efforts to create better connectivity through the development of five greenfield expressways and economic corridors, amounting to Rs 1.20 lakh crore, connecting Punjab to significant regions like Delhi,

Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Haryana. Notably, he cited the 670 km greenfield expressway Delhi-Amritsar-Katra project, estimating travel times of four hours from Delhi to Amritsar and six hours from Delhi to Katra upon its completion.

The event saw the presence of other dignitaries such as Union Minister and local MP Som Parkash, former MP Vijay Sampla, and Punjab BJP chief Sunil Jakhar.
