Union Civil Aviation Minister launches first Air India Express flight connecting new routes

Union Minister of Civil Aviation and Steel, Jyotiraditya M Scindia, has formally introduced new air routes connecting Gwalior to Bengaluru, Delhi, and Ayodhya, marking a significant advancement in nationwide air connectivity. The inauguration event, attended by Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, celebrated a noteworthy achievement as daily flights connecting Ayodhya, Gwalior, Bangalore, and Delhi were set into motion.

With the introduction of these additional routes, Gwalior is now linked to six cities, witnessing 33 weekly flight movements. Air India Express has played a pivotal role in facilitating connectivity to Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Delhi. Air India Express Managing Director Aloke Singh affirmed the airline’s commitment to enhancing connectivity in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, recognized as the growth engines of New India.

Minister Scindia underscored the government’s dedication to infrastructure development, announcing the imminent completion of the new Gwalior terminal valued at Rs. 500 crore in the next few days. This state-of-the-art terminal, spanning 2 lakh square feet, is strategically designed to meet the region’s future demands while incorporating elements of history, culture, and civilization.

Reflecting on the advancements in the aviation sector in Madhya Pradesh, Minister Scindia highlighted the substantial increase in air connectivity from 13 to 31 cities since 2014. The state has also experienced international connectivity with Dubai and Sharjah, accompanied by a surge in weekly aircraft movements from 540 to over 1000. The government is actively investing in infrastructure, with ongoing projects like the new terminal at Jabalpur, development of Rewa airport, and new facilities in Datia and Satna.

Air India Express is poised to operate daily flights on the Bangalore – Gwalior – Delhi – Ayodhya – Delhi – Gwalior – Bangalore routes, offering a comprehensive seven-day-a-week service to passengers.
