Undertrial prisoner shot dead before cops in court complex in Patna

In a daring crime reminiscent of the Atiq Ahmed murder in Uttar Pradesh in April, two men shot dead an undertrial prisoner in a court complex in Patna of Bihar on Friday.
According to media reports, the deceased, Abhishek Kumar, who faced murder charges among other cases, was being taken to Danapur court when two men attacked him and shot him dead.
Kumar, who was lodged in Beur jail in Patna, was to be presented before the court.
The attackers reportedly hail from Muzaffarpur.
“The attackers have been arrested and taken to the police station. They will be interrogated to ascertain who sent them and the reason behind this murder,” Patna West Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar said.
