Ulfat Khan makes history as first female parade commander

Senior Cadet Captain Ulfat Khan, a resident of Uri District and a student at Government College for Women Gandhinagar Jammu, has etched her name in history by becoming the first-ever female cadet chosen as the Parade Commander at the Prime Minister’s Rally (PM Rally) during the Republic Day Camp 2024 held in New Delhi. Ulfat’s remarkable achievement not only brings pride to the JK&L Directorate and the 1 J&K Naval Unit but also highlights her extraordinary journey from a remote village to a national achiever.

Ulfat Khan, born in Uri, Baramulla District, in 2002, attended various Kendriya Vidyalayas across Delhi, Jharkhand, and Odisha before pursuing her higher education at GCW Gandhinagar. Despite facing geographical challenges, her unwavering determination and resilience propelled her to stand out among 2,274 NCC cadets from 28 States and Union Territories. Selected for the prestigious role of Parade Commander at the Republic Day Camp, Ulfat’s outstanding performance earned her the title of Best Commander along with the DG Commendation Medal Certificate. This recognition highlights her exemplary leadership qualities and dedication to service.

Ulfat’s impressive array of NCC camps, including NSC, SNIC, RDC, Mini Sailing, and CATC, showcased her skills and leadership abilities, leading to this historic moment in her career.Against all odds, Ulfat Khan’s journey exemplifies the transformative power of determination and commitment, inspiring young aspirants across the nation.
