The incident occurred in Udupi at a temporary open field where CM Bommai’s helicopter landed. When the incident occurred, the Chief Minister was on his way to the Kollur Mookambika temple. According to the police, the smoke candle reportedly fell to the ground due to rotor pressure, and the fire spread on the grass around 300 metres from where the helicopter landed.

The fire was minor. It was immediately doused off. It was quite far from the chopper. There was no technical snag in the chopper.”
