Triumph: Chandigarh secures Safai Mitra and Safe City Awards 2023

The city of Chandigarh, renowned as the City Beautiful, has achieved a significant milestone by securing the top spot as the Safaimitra Safe City in the prestigious Swachh Survekshan 2023 awards.

This accomplishment not only underscores the city›s dedication to establishing a clean and secure environment for its residents but also highlights its commitment to the well-being and safety of Safaimitras responsible for maintaining cleanliness.
Chandigarh has been honoured with the Best Safai Mitra Safe City Award, presented to Mayor Anoop Gupta by President Draupadi Murmu during a ceremony at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi.

The event, attended by UT Advisor Nitin Kumar Yadav, Municipal Commissioner Anindita Mitra, and Chief Engineer MCC NP Sharma, celebrated the city’s outstanding achievements.
Mayor Anup Gupta attributed the award to the persistent efforts of the Municipal Corporation, coupled with the steadfast support of citizens and stakeholders, reflecting their commitment to transforming Chandigarh into an environmentally friendly and sustainable city.
Expressing joy, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Anindita Mitra highlighted Chandigarh’s significant progress, moving from manholes to modernized sanitation methods.

The city’s consistent efforts culminated in an impressive 11th national rank in the Swachh Survekshan 2023 awards, underscoring the Municipal Corporation’s collective endeavors and dedication to enhancing the city’s sanitation and hygiene standards.
