TMC a private limited firm, not political party: BJP leader

Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Assembly and BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari criticised TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee on Monday for choosing to stage a two-day sit-in protest against the Central government.

TMC is a private limited corporation, not a political party, the BJP leader declared during a press conference. Prior to PM Modi taking office, elections were held on the basis of “Dynasticism, Ethnicity, and Appeasement,” which have since been eliminated except in two states: West Bengal and Telangana.

The West Bengal government has already received “thousands of crores of money,” according to Adhikari, as part of the MGNREGA plan, which is centrally-sponsored scheme.

He said that when the MGNREGA programme was launched in the state, around 3.60 billion MGNREGA job cards had been registered. The Central government announced the linking of the job cards with Aadhaar; the state government removed about 1 crore job card data.

Adhikari went on to say that West Bengal government took a significant amount of money on behalf of those 1 crore job cards in the last 10 years that were found to be fake. “It is a big scam,” the BJP leader said.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee declared to organise a two-day sit-in on 29 and 30 March over the ‘”Centre’s discrimination against the state” in allocating social welfare funds. The protest will be staged in front of the BR Ambedkar statue in Kolkata.
