On Thursday, the Special Cell of the Delhi Police detained three African citizens who are allegedly members of a global drug trafficking organization. They were found to be in possession of 6.044 kg of methaqualone and 2.058 kg of heroin, which together are worth more than Rs. 40 crores on the black market. They were also allegedly residing in the nation illegally, according to the police.
“Three Delhi-based, illegally staying citizens of African origin, including two Nigerian and one Sierra Leone nationals associated with an Inter-National Narcotics Drugs Syndicate have been arrested by Special Cell,” said a statement by the Delhi Police.
Fake VISAs and Passports have also been seized from them, said the police.
This however isn’t the first that police have arrested African nationals. Last year, police in Maharashtra’s Pune arrested six citizens from Tanzania and Uganda for running drug rackets in the city. The officials also seized drugs worth Rs 67 lakhs.
