Thane girder launching machine collapse: Death toll rises to 16, rescue operations on

Two more bodies were discovered at the scene of the tragedy on Tuesday morning as the search and rescue effort went on, bringing the total number of fatalities in the collapse of a girder launching machine in Thane, Maharashtra, to 16, according to officials.
In the late hours of the night in the Thane district of Maharashtra, a girder launching machine crashed nearby Shahpur, resulting in the event. The precise number of persons who might still be trapped beneath the fallen structure is unknown, according to officials.

“Sixteen bodies have been recovered so far, while three persons are wounded. Six more people are feared to be trapped inside the collapsed structure,” the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) informed in a statement.
The officials said that two NDRF teams are engaged in a search and rescue operation. More details are awaited.
