TERRORIST KILLED IN ENCOUNTER IN J&K’S BANDIPORA

BANDIPORA: One terrorist was killed in an encounter that broke out on Wednesday between security forces and terrorists in the Salinder forest area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

As many as three magazines and one AK rifle was recovered in the encounter, the police said. “BandiporaEncounterUpdate: 1 terrorist killed. 1 AK rifle, 3 magazines recovered. The killed terrorist was a part of the newly infiltrated terror group. Search for other 2 terrorists is in progress: IGP Kashmir,” Kashmir Zone Police tweeted.

Killed terrorist was reportedly identified as Gulzar Ahmad Ganai resident of Wussan Pattan, Baramulla. He exfilitrated in year 2018 and remained there for 3 years and 6 months before infiltrating back in the last week of April.

Earlier on Tuesday, four hybrid terrorists of the proscribed terror outfit TRF-Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) were arrested in the Bemina area of Srinagar. Besides, two terrorist associates linked with proscribed terror outfit LeT were arrested in Awantipora. Incriminating materials including arms and ammunition have been recovered from their possession.

In another incident, ammunition was recovered in Ramban’s Sumbar area. During the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, police received an information through reliable sources regarding presence of aché of ammunition and related material in Sumber area of District Ramban. Acting swiftly on this, a special team was constituted which was lead by Inspector Sampaul Gill , SHO Dharamkund, under the supervision of Sh. Nihar Ranjan SDPO Gool. Searches continued in the dense jungles for the entire night and finally after strenuous efforts arms and ammunitons were recovered.

The entire operation was carried out under the overall supervision of Mohita Sharma, IPS SSP Ramban. An investigation into the matter has started.
