Tension in Jammu after temple vandalised

People across Jammu region came on the street as the news of the alleged vandalism of a temple in the Bhaderwah area of Doda district was reported. Paragraph a temple situated around 1400 feet above sea level.

Paragraph the Bhadrabad town observed a complete shut down as the members of the Hindu community came on roads and held a massive protest as they demanded action against the people who are responsible for vandalising the temple. In Paragraph, people have been demanding that the culprits must be identified and booked.

Sensing the gravity of the matter the Doda police registered an FIR. Police said that the investigation is on.

A team of senior police officials also tracked for eight hours to reach the temple which continues to be disconnected with the rest of the population due to heavy snowfall in the area of the temple.

Protests erupted today after some pictures of vandalism started circulating on different social media platforms. People of Hindu community blocked the road and observed complete shutdown after a bandh call was given by Sanatan Dharma Sabha Bhadarwah of district Doda.

After an assurance of Deputy Commissioner of Doda Vikas Sharma and SSP Abdul Qayoom, protesters at Bhadarwah who had blocked roads at several places including Domail, Sarol Bagh, Bhala, Seri Bazar, Gupt Ganga and Bhalra, suspended the stir after which shops were opened and traffic started plying normally.

Bhartiya Janta Party, Congress, National Conference & locals of Bhadarwah has condemned the act and said the “heinous crime is aimed at vitiating the otherwise peaceful atmosphere and communal harmony in the district”.

Even in Jammu city various social, political and religious organisations have condemned the incident and has demanded the strong action against the accused.
