Teen’s neck tumor of 2.5 kg removed in 6.5-hour surgery

MUMBAI : Surgeons at LTMG Hospital in Sion, India, have successfully removed a 2.5kg tumor from a 15-year-old boy’s neck and shoulder. The tumor had been growing since birth and had reached substantial dimensions, measuring 22cm x 30cm. The surgery, which lasted 6.5 hours, was performed by a team of plastic surgeons, cardiovascular surgeons, interventional radiologists, and anesthesiologists. The team navigated around critical blood vessels, nerves, and muscles in the neck without causing damage or trauma.
