Tamil Nadu CM Lays Foundation Stone For Development Projects

Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin laid the foundation stone of many developmental projects in Southern Tamil Nadu. It included much talked international furniture park spread across more than 1,000 acres in the state’s Thoothukudi district which is claimed to be an major infrastructure development project in the region.The state government had also signed 14 agreements with 33 companies for an investment of more than Rs 2,500 crore in the furniture park. The park’s first phase is expected to be functional within five years and the second in another eight to 10 years with an investment of Rs. 3,500 crore to Rs. 4,500 crore. The Tamil Nadu government is hoping that the furniture park would provide employment to around 4,00,000 people.

Speaking at the function, the chief minister said, “Our government’s aim is to ensure a prosperous life for Tamil people. We are taking steps to establish new industrial parks in the southern districts of Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, Virudhunagar, Ramanathapuram, Theni and Sivaganga.”

Chief minister M.K.Stalin also inaugurated a floating solar plant, worth Rs. 150 crore that can generate 40 million units of electricity annually for the manufacturing activities. The plant is said to be India’s largest floating solar plant. On the occasion, MK Stalin also highlighted the need for clean power. The CM said,“the government of Tamil Nadu is focused on environmentally sustainable projects and establishing similar facilities in the existing dams and reservoirs in the state which would lead to the generation of more renewable power as well as conserving water and minimising the scarce agricultural land being used for establishing solar power generating facilities.”
