Tamil Nadu CM holds preparedness meeting prior to cyclone ‘Michaung’

A review meeting regarding preparations for the impending cyclone “Michaung” was held on Friday by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin with twelve district collectors and officials.
North Coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal residents are expected to face extremely heavy rainfall (above 204.4 mm) on December 3 and heavy to very heavy rainfall on December 4, according to an orange alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

It stated that by December 2 the depression over the Bay of Bengal is expected to deepen into a cyclonic storm over the Southwest Bay of Bengal, and by December 3 it is expected to continue to intensify. By December 4 afternoon, it would reach the coasts of north Tamil Nadu and south Andhra Pradesh.
According to the Chief Minister, the state should expect a lot of rain during the cyclonic storm.

He advised the concerned departments to take preventative action and suggested that those who would be affected be relocated to relief camps.
He stated that district collectors are responsible for securing food, electricity, and other necessities.
According to the Chief Minister, action needs to be taken to stop any electrical leaks. According to him, trees that fall as a result of a cyclone should be removed as soon as possible.
Stalin emphasized the importance of keeping food centers and emergency rooms stocked in order to provide aid to those in need.
