SUVENDU MEETS AMIT SHAH, SEEKS HIS BLESSINGS FOR BENGAL

On Tuesday, BJP MLA and Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly Suvendu Adhikari met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and discussed various issues concerning the state.

A former minister in the last Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government, Adhikari had joined the BJP just before the 2021 state assembly elections.

Complaining against the newly elected Trinamool government, he said, “The state government is not abiding by the constitution. Violence continued after the vote.” Adhikari may also have a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a source told news agency PTI.

Adhikari took to Twitter and wrote that he discussed with Amit Shah several matters concerning the state and sought his blessings for Bengal.

“Honourable HM assured, he was and he will be there for Bengal always,” he said.

Adhikari defeated West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in a closely fought battle in Bengal’s Nandigram during the state assembly polls held in March-April this year.

Shuvendu Adhikari further said, “This is my first visit to Delhi after becoming the parliamentary leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly. Owing to the lockdown, I could not come to Delhi to meet people after the cyclone hit West Bengal.”

“I don’t want to comment about the details of the meeting in front of everyone. However, I have been given the guidance on how to act as the Leader of the Opposition,” Adhikari said.

Shuvendu Adhikari said that he also had a discussion with Home Minister Amit Shah about the post-poll violence. “They know all the news. They are keeping an eye on everything, ” the Nandigram MLA said.

After the meeting, Adhikari tweeted: “I talked to Amit Shah about various issues. I asked for blessings for Bengal. He promised to always be by the side of Bengal. ”

Speaking to reporters in Delhi, Adhikari said, “Violence in Bengal will not last long. Understand, West Bengal is a province. India is a country. The constitution must be obeyed. If anyone in the state thinks we are the king or queen of an independent country, it will not work. There is a strong government at the center.”

At the same time, Adhikari reiterated that everyone has seen the actions of the Chief Ministers of Delhi and Bengal over the coronavirus vaccine row. Modi’s intervention has solved that problem, all problems will be solved, he added.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, a meeting was held at the party office in Hastings where Dilip Ghosh chaired the meeting of the State office bearers, zonal observers, and the morcha chiefs among the others. State BJP president Dilip Ghosh has again emphasized over the post-poll violence in the meeting. BJP would protest against violence and BJP MPs will write a letter to the President, Ghosh said.
