Sushant probe should not go Dabholkar way: Sharad Pawar

A day after the Supreme Court directed the CBI to take over the investigation into Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case, NCP supremo Sharad Pawar said the result of this probe should not be like the one into the murder of Dr Narendra Dabholkar.

In a series of tweets, Pawar said: “Supreme Court has ordered the transfer of investigation of Sushant Singh Rajput case to CBI. I am sure that the Maharashtra government will honour this decision and fully cooperate in the investigation. The result of this investigation should not be like the investigation into the murder of Dr Narendra Dabholkar, which has not yet found a solution.”

Dr. Dabholkar was shot dead in Pune on 20 August 2013 and even after seven years of the murder, the family is still waiting for justice.

Narendra Dabholkar.

While speaking to The Daily Guardian, Hamid Dabholkar, son of Narendra Dabholkar, said, “Seven years have passed since the murder of my father. Initially, Maharashtra Police did not properly investigate the case for nine months. After this, the case was handed over to the CBI following the High Court’s order… It is very painful that a reputed agency like CBI has not been able to complete the investigation till now.”

Remembering his father on his death anniversary, Hamid wailed that the irony is that the accused in the case are still roaming free.

Reiterating that there is a link between the murders of Govind Pansare, Gauri Lankesh and M.M. Kalburgi, Hamid questioned why the main conspirators in these cases have not been arrested by the police.

Meanwhile, Sanjay Nirupam, senior Congress leader told The Daily Guardian that the CBI is the most overburdened investigative agency. Many cases of the CBI are still unresolved. The conviction rate of the CBI is lower than the police. We can’t expect that the CBI will complete the investigation in the next two-three months.
