Supreme Court Expressed Concern About Vacancies In Super Specially Seats; Asked Union Govt To Find A Solution: NEET-SS

The Supreme Court in the case Kevin Joy & Ors. v. Government of India And Ors observed and has recently expressed its concerns raised over the vacancies in the super speciality medical in India, and also the failure of the concerned authorities in order to fill up the vacancy.
The bench headed by Justice BR Gavai and Justice Vikram Nath in the case observed in an order passed on April 13, 2023, wherein the court was hearing a batch of pleas filed arising out of successful candidates dropping out of such courses.
The court observed that the plea filed the petitioner depicted that the same being a very sorry picture that 1,003 precious super specialty seats are going to waste, in as much as nobody could be admitted off on the said seats. Therefore, it has also been noted by the court that there being always a shortage of super specialty doctors and on the other hand these precious seats are remained unfilled.
The bench while considering the facts and circumstances of the case asked the Additional Advocate General Aishwarya Bhati to impress upon the concerned authorities in order to find the solution to the problem. The bench in the case also observed that the Union government was set in order to appoint a committee under the chairmanship of the Director-General of Health Services of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, MoHFW in order to find the solution to the problem. Thus, the said committee would include the representatives of the Indian states, as well as the private medical colleges. The court while noting that the next academic session would begin in July, wherein the court requested the law officer to urge the committee to come up with the solution before July.
Further, the court allowed the union government for filing its status report before the next date of hearing.
Accordingly, the court listed the matter to be next heard on July 04, 2023.
