Supreme Court Collegium Recommended Appointment Of Three Judges To Himachal Pradesh High Court

The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended for the appointment of three High Court judges of Himachal Pradesh High Court, namely, Ranjan Sharma, Bipin Chander Negi and Rakesh Kainthla.

Ranjan Sharma
Bipin Chander
The Judicial Officer:
Rakesh Kainthla
The Supreme Court Collegium bench comprising of CJI DY Chandrachud and Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Sanjiv Khanna had recommended the names for their appointment as the judges of Himachal Pradesh High Court.
The Chief Justice of the High Court of Himachal Pradesh in consultation with his two senior-most colleagues had earlier made the recommendation on December 05, 2022 and also the Chief Minister and the Governor of the State of Himachal Pradesh had concurred with the recommendation made by the Supreme Court Collegium.
Advocate Ranjan Sharma
The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended Advocate Ranjan Sharma wherein the court stated that he was designated as a Senior Advocate on 29.03.2023. Advocate Ranjan Sharma has extensive practice at the Bar and is serving as an Additional Advocate General with a reasonably good professional income. The inputs were received from the government wherein indicating that he enjoys a good personal and professional image and nothing adverse has come to notice with regard to his integrity.
Advocate Bipin Chander Negi
The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended Advocate Bipin Chander Negi, wherein the court stated that he was designated as a Senior Advocate in 2015. Advocate Bipin Chander Negi was appointed as an amicus curiae by the High Court in several matters and is reported to have knowledge of diverse branches of law, having appeared before the High Court and district courts. Therefore, he would also have the tenure of over seven years and the inputs provided by the Government in the file indicate that he enjoys a good personal and professional reputation.
Rakesh Kainthla, Judicial Officer
The Supreme Court Collegium stated that Rakesh Kainthla joined judicial service on 07.08.1995 and has served as Judicial Officer in various capacities in the State. Therefore, the inputs placed by the Government in the file indicate that he enjoys a good personal and professional image.
