There is a big change in Rajasthan bureaucracy. Senior IAS officer Sundash Pant has been made the Chief Secretary after Usha Sharma’s retirement. Post Cabinet expansion of, all eyes were on the bureaucracy, there was intense speculation as to who will the new head of the bureaucracy.
The rumous Pant, who was on deputation at the Centre, returning to Rajasthan proved to be correct.
The Daily Guardian had first reported on December 18 that new officials will come from Delhi to run the government and Pant will be called back to Rajasthan on deputation.
Additional chargeAt the same time, along with the post of Chief Secretary, Pant has also been given the additional charge of Chairman of Rajasthan State Mines and Minerals Corporation. He will handle additional workload till further orders.
Pant is a 1991 batch IAS officer of Rajasthan cadre. A resident of Lucknow, he has worked in the state for a long time. He started working as Jaipur SDM in 1993.
A 1991 batch officer, Pant stood at 7th position in seniority. At number one is CS Usha Sharma, who retired on Sunday. Subodh Aggarwal of 88 batch was at second position, V Srinivas Nivas of 89 batch was at third position, Shubhra Singh of 89 batch was at fourth position, Rajeshwar Singh of 89 batch was at fifth position, and Rohit Kumar Singh of 89 batch was at sixth position.
Pant was currently working on the post of Union Health Secretary, from where he was relieved on Saturday.
