Students felicitated in Kupwara for their cricket match victories in Pune

The Deputy Commissioner of Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan, organised a ceremony at the DC Office Lawn to welcome a group of 16 students who returned from a Cricket Capacity Building tour in Pune. The ceremony witnessed the presence of Col Harpreet Singh, Commanding Officer 160 TA Inf Bn, Lt Colonel Charudatta Ranade of the same unit, and various other district officers.

The tour, organised by 160 TA Inf Bn in collaboration with ASEEM FOUNDATION Pune under Op Sadbhavana, aimed to provide a platform for players from diverse backgrounds to showcase their cricketing talents. Flagged off by Maj Gen Girish Kalia, GOC, 28 Inf Div on December 16 from Hiri, the tour immersed students in an intensive cricket training program featuring coaching sessions from seasoned professionals and practice matches.

During an interactive session with the DC, the participants expressed gratitude to the Indian Army and ASEEM FOUNDATION, stating that they had the opportunity to refine their cricketing skills and gain insights into the strategic aspects of the game. The team played three friendly matches with Pune 11 and visited various historic places in Pune and Mumbai.

DC Ayushi Sudan congratulated the students for winning cricket matches in Pune and bringing laurels to Kupwara district. She emphasized the numerous benefits of engaging in sports, including improved physical health, enhanced mental well-being, increased social interaction, and the development of valuable life skills such as teamwork, discipline, and perseverance.

The DC encouraged students to participate in extracurricular activities alongside academic excellence to achieve their future goals. She urged them to motivate other female students to take part in sports.
