Strict actions will be taken on NewsClick, claims BJP leader Dushyant Kumar Gautam

In response to the Delhi Police’s ongoing raids at various locations connected to NewsClick, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Dushyant Kumar Gautam has stated that decisive measures will be implemented against NewsClick or any other organization that operates with foreign funding to disrupt the unity of the nation.

These remarks follow the Delhi Police’s execution of raids on NewsClick’s associated sites, conducted under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and other relevant sections.

“Strict actions will be taken on NewsClick or any other agency that will work on the funds from foreign countries to break the country. China does not want to see our country grow and it is trying to use anti-national agencies against the country,” Gautam said.

NewsClick writers Paranjoy Guha Thakurta and Urmilesh were brought to the special cell offices in the national capital by the Delhi Police. Two senior police officials are also present at the special cell premises.

Sources have revealed that the police brought laptops, mobile phones, diaries, and other seized items to a special cell located at the Lodhi Road office. These raids are being conducted as part of a case registered on August 17th, involving charges under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), Section 153A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) (promoting enmity between two groups), and Section 120B of the IPC (criminal conspiracy).

Union Minister Anurag Thakur stated that if anyone has committed any wrongdoing, search agencies have the freedom to conduct investigations against them following established guidelines. He emphasized that he doesn’t need to justify these actions.

Congress spokesperson and permanent invitee to the Congress Working Committee (CWC), Gurdeep Sappal, criticized the government for taking this action.
