Statewide support grows for striking resident doctors at SMS Medical College

Residents from across the state rallied in support of the resident doctors at SMS Medical College, who have been on strike for the past week. Beginning Monday, resident doctors from other medical colleges joined the action, boycotting inpatient department (IPD) services for two hours in their respective institutions. This movement addresses several issues faced by resident doctors statewide.
In the GBM held in Sawai Mansingh Hospital, it was decided unanimously that in view of seasonal diseases in the state, emergency services will be run as usual for the time being. But due to no cognisance being taken by the government and issuing an official notice against the organisation president Dr Manohar Seoul, there is a lot of anger among the resident doctors. Everyone decided that if no positive steps are taken by the government in the next 48 hours, then it will be their compulsion to intensify the movement, and the state administration will be held responsible for any trouble caused to the people of Rajasthan.
The resident doctors are striking over eight key demands, including enhanced security measures in hospitals. Other requests include a 30-35% increase in stipends, direct recruitment of specialty medical officers, removal of the mandatory bond condition, optional house rent allowance deductions, and rectification of salary disparities for senior residents.
They have given the administration an ultimatum until October 14 to address their concerns, or they will initiate a complete boycott of work.
As seasonal diseases surge in Jaipur, patients are facing challenges due to the ongoing strike. Routine operations are being postponed, and medical attention is limited to emergency cases.
