State Youth Mahotsav: Skills showcase and cultural extravaganza

Under the auspices of the State Youth Empowerment and Entrepreneurship Department, the Directorate of Skill Development and Industrial Training commenced the second day of the Mahakumbh of Young Artists of Haryana State under the State Youth Mahotsav-2023. Advisor Youth Empowerment and Entrepreneurship Department, Lt. General (Retd.) JS Nain, served as the Special Guest for the occasion.

The lamp-lighting ceremony for the second day of the State Youth Mahotsav took place at Indradhanush Auditorium, Sector-5, Panchkula, with Guneet Swani, Millets Ambassador from Chandigarh, doing the honors. Dr. Vivek Aggarwal, Director General of Skill Development and Industrial Training Department, Haryana, welcomed Lt. General (Retd.) JS Nain with a flower bunch and shawl, extending greetings to the special guests, participants, and visitors.

During the event, Lt. General (Retd.) JS Nain conveyed his wishes for a Happy Youth Mahotsav and emphasized the pivotal role of the youth in the future. Recognizing the limited availability of government jobs, he urged the youth to acquire new skills, become job creators rather than seekers, and highlighted the opportunities provided by Shri Vishwakarma Kaushal University in Palwal. Lt. General (Retd.) JS Nain encouraged the youth to dream big, work hard, and recognize the value of time to achieve success.
Sanjeev Sharma, Additional Director (Youth Affairs), delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all the special guests. He outlined the program’s agenda and stressed the importance of recognizing the value of time for the youth to reach new heights. The Director General of the department concluded the program by presenting mementoes to the special guests.

In his welcome address, the Director General urged skilled youth to register for the World Skills Competition and participate in the Ideathon link to express innovative ideas. He announced the establishment of incubation centers for advanced technology in six districts and advised youth to stay away from drugs for the development of both themselves and a developed India.

Millets Ambassador Guneet Swani from Chandigarh shared insights on the nutritional benefits of millets, tracing their roots back to the Indus Valley Civilization in Haryana. Swani encouraged youth to demand millet-based dishes instead of junk food, making themselves millets brand ambassadors.

The second day of the State Level Youth Mahotsav featured thematic competitions, including folk dance (group), folk singing (group), speech competition, extemporaneous lecture, photography, and multi-millets at Indradhanush Auditorium, Sector-5, Panchkula.

The event saw the participation of members of the jury, Youth Cultural Coordinators, National Youth Awardees, officers, employees of the department, ITI Principals, participants, parents, and other spectators in the auditorium.
