In a letter addressed to the Hon’ble Member, Speaker Om Birla expressed grave concern over the incident that occurred inside the House on December 13, 2023. The Speaker acknowledged collective concern expressed in the House and outlined immediate steps taken to enhance security based on suggestions gathered during a meeting with party leaders.
A high-level Inquiry Committee has been formed to investigate the incident thoroughly, with the report set to be shared with the House. Additionally, a High Powered Committee will review security aspects in the Parliament Complex, formulating an action plan to prevent such incidents in the future.
Speaker Birla highlighted past incidents of security breaches and disruptions in the House, emphasizing the collective resolve displayed against such occurrences. The responsibility for formulating and implementing detailed security measures falls under Parliament’s jurisdiction.
