Social media site X encounters with global outage

More than tens of thousands of users worldwide reported outages and issues viewing posts on X. The billionaire Elon Musk-owned website, formerly known as Twitter, encountered with service interruptions on Thursday starting at around 6:00 GMT, according to outage tracking website Downdetector.

“User reports indicate problems at X (Twitter),” Downdetector said, reporting that about 95,000 users experienced problems.

During the height of the outage, over 77,000 users in the US encountered difficulties. X and X Pro, formerly known as TweetDeck, were not accessible to users in Canada, Britain, France, or other countries.

People expressed dissatisfaction at their blank timelines on X on other platforms, such as rival Meta’s app Threads. The website simply showed a message that read, “Welcome to X!” and they were unable to exchange direct messages or publish or read new material. This approximately 45-minute outage has no known cause at this time.

X (previously Twitter) is a microblog that allows users to publish shorter text messages. Twitter users can post their tweets across multiple devices and platforms which include iPhone, Android, Blackberry or Windows Phone devices and traditional computers.
