Six Dead After Alleged Consumption of Spurious Liquor; Tragedy Strikes in Haryana

According to police officials, a tragic incident occurred in Haryana’s Yamunanagar in which six people died as a result of the consumption of fake liquor. The incident was brought to light on Wednesday when authorities received information about the death of a young man who had consumed alcohol.

Ganga Ram Punia, Yamunanagar Superintendent of Police (SP), revealed, “In the afternoon on Wednesday, we received the information that a youth had died after consuming alcohol. After this information, the team reached there and talked to the concerned doctor and relatives.”

The investigation has identified several suspects, and arrests have been made, with the individuals currently undergoing interrogation. SP Punia stated, “In this case, we have identified a few accused, and some have been arrested. They are being interrogated. According to the information that we have received till now, one person died in the hospital, and two people have been admitted to the hospital. On this matter, we have raided many places, and we have got many important pieces of evidence too.”

A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 308, 302, 120-B, and relevant sections of the Punjab Excise (Haryana Amendment Bill), the Punjab Excise Act, and Copyright Acts, added SP Punia.

As part of the investigation, law enforcement teams have collected empty bottles and other crucial evidence at the deceased’s residence in the villages. The gravity of the situation was further underscored by Champa Devi, the wife of one of the deceased individuals, who stated on Thursday, “My husband, Suresh Kumar, passed away after consuming liquor. I really don’t know where he drank the liquor. Around six people have died. The culprits should be punished.”

The investigation is ongoing, with authorities diligently working to unravel the circumstances surrounding the consumption of the alleged spurious liquor and ensure that those responsible face the consequences of their actions.
