In Jirakpur city, troubled by increasing criminal incidents, people have opened a protest against the police administration. They claim that the police don’t patrol their area, boosting criminals’ morale. The city’s population is consistently increasing, and many tenants reside there. The police haven’t conducted any checks in their area so far.
Residents of Shiv Enclave Society held a meeting on Sunday opposing the rising incidents of snatching, theft, and the lax attitude of the police. They allege that incidents of snatching and theft are increasing in their area, yet the police aren’t taking any concrete action.
Society residents Narendra Singh, Pravesh Kumar, Lal Singh, Tara Datta, Radhe Shyam, Pushpa Devi, Gurmeet Singh, Rajinder, and others mentioned that incidents like robbery, chain snatching, and theft are continuously on the rise in their area, but the police are not taking any action even after complaints. Every day, thieves on bikes carry out incidents and flee. Recently, a woman’s gold chain was snatched. The security system in Jirakpur has completely collapsed.The Shiv Enclave Prime Block Welfare Society demanded an increase in police force from local MLA Kuljeet Singh Randhawa and urged the police administration to take strict action against the increasing theft incidents on a daily basis. The society advised women to keep powdered red chili in their purses so that they can protect themselves in emergency situations.
