Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, President of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Shri Amritsar – the mini parliament of Sikhs – released the annual calendar of the International Sikh Shastra Vidya Council. On this occasion, among others, the committee’s general secretary Rajinder Singh Mehta, executive member Indramohan Singh Lakhmirwala, secretary Pratap Singh, and International Sikh Martial Arts Council President Harjeet Singh Grewal, Secretary Baljit Singh, National Gatka Association of India (NGAI) Inderjodh Singh, Vice President, Gatka Association of Punjab Sarabjit Singh, Vice President, Gatka Association of Punjab Jagdish Singh, President, District Gatka Association Amritsar, Gatka Coach NGAI National coaches Yograj Singh Bhambri, and Mandeep Singh Zirakpur, Sherry Singh, and Harsimran Singh were also present.
On this occasion, Advocate Dhami said that Shastra Vidya is the historical and heritage martial art of the Sikh community, and every Sikh brother, sister, and child should adopt this art of self-defence. General Secretary Rajinder Singh Mehta said that the Shiromani Committee is promoting this Shastra art in its educational institutions. He also appreciated the work being done by Harjeet Singh Grewal for the prosperity of Gatka.
Before this, Council Chairman Harjeet Singh Grewal, who is also the President of Gatka, told Advocate Dhami and Rajinder Singh Mehta about the merits of the Gatka annual calendar. He said that while in daily life this calendar gives information about the Desi-English months, including Sangrah, Amavasya, and Purnmasi, information about the benefits of playing Gatka will also be available.
