The popular north Indian hill station, Shimla, has experienced a significant temperature drop of 8 degrees Celsius due to fresh rainfall over the past 24 hours. While Mandi, Kullu, and some parts of Shimla district remained dry, many other areas in Himachal Pradesh witnessed rain on Friday.
Surender Paul, head of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Himachal Pradesh, stated that the rain would persist for another 24 hours. He reported that most districts received fresh rainfall, with Rajgarh in the Sirmaur district recording the highest at 26.0 mm. In addition, the higher elevations in Lahaul-Spiti, Chamba, and Kinnaur districts experienced fresh snowfall.
Paul also informed that clearer weather is expected soon, but another western disturbance will approach the state on April 2, resulting in continued rainfall during the first week of April. The maximum day temperatures in Shimla have dropped by 8 to 10 degrees Celsius and are predicted to decline further.
Tourists visiting Shimla have been enjoying the rainy weather but were unprepared for the cold conditions. Visitors from neighbouring states such as Punjab expressed disappointment as they were unable to explore the city and capture videos due to the thick fog.
