Shah chairs J&K meetings on development and security

On Friday, the Union Home Minister Amit Shah convened two important meetings at the Ministry of Home Affairs, regarding the situation in Jammu & Kashmir. The first meeting was held to review the development works in the Valley, while the second meeting was about the prevailing law and order situation.

During the first meeting, the Home Minister told the officials that the all-round development and welfare of the people of Jammu and Kashmir is the top priority of the Modi government.

Shah also reviewed the development works in the Union Territory. He was told that 76% of the population has been vaccinated in Kashmir, wherein 4 districts have been fully inoculated.

Shah directed the officials that all refugees who are present in Jammu & Kashmir should get benefits under refugee schemes and that agro-based industries should be established on a large scale in the region to boost employment opportunities.

The Home Minister further reiterated that he wants the elected Panchayat members to be taken to all-India travel and that proper training should be imparted to them.

The meeting was attended by the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Home Secretary, and top officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Soon after this, the second meeting— regarding the law and order situation in Jammu and Kashmir— was held. National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, Intelligence Bureau Director Arvind Kumar, Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW) chief Samant Kumar Goel, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Director General Kuldeep Singh, and J&K DGP Dilbagh Singh attended the meeting.

In this meeting, the security arrangements in the valley were reviewed in view of the upcoming Amarnath Yatra. As to what action is being taken, after the terrorist attacks that have taken place in the last 20 days, was also discussed. Shah directed the officials that culprits involved in carrying out terror incidents should be brought under the clutches of law at the earliest.
