Residents of Ratangarh expressed their anger today over the delayed arrest of the accused in a sexual assault case involving a doctor at a private hospital. Social justice organizations and members of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities gathered at the railway station and organized a rally. They marched from the hospital to the Ratangarh Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) office and staged a sit-in protest on Link Road, causing traffic congestion.
Upon receiving information, Ratangarh DSP Satpal Singh and CI Subhash Bijaraniya arrived at the scene and attempted to pacify the agitated crowd. They assured them that action would be taken promptly in the case. However, the protesters warned that if the accused was not arrested within three days, they would intensify their demonstration.
According to the case, a 20-year-old woman from a village in Churu Tehsil complained of stomach pain, and she was taken to a private hospital in Daoudsar, Ratangarh. Allegedly, the director of the private hospital committed sexual assault on her during her visit. The victim’s brother filed a complaint with the Ratangarh police station on 7 August, accusing the doctor, who also runs the hospital, of sexual assault. No action has been taken in the case so far, leading to public outrage and protests.
