In a concerted effort to elevate Panchkula to new heights of cleanliness, aesthetics, and environmental sustainability, Haryana Assembly Speaker Gyan Chand Gupta unveiled a series of initiatives during a program organized by the Asma Foundation in the village of Nada.
Gupta formally inaugurated the Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle Centre, emphasizing the importance of waste management in creating a cleaner environment. Additionally, he launched a sewing center aimed at providing girls with sewing training, fostering self-reliance and empowerment. As part of the event, blankets, sewing machines, and citations were distributed to needy and impoverished families.
Addressing the gathering, Gupta acknowledged the hidden talents of rural children, emphasizing the need to nurture these abilities for the greater benefit of society. He commended the Aasman organization for its efforts in bringing forth the latent talents in children and raising awareness on critical issues such as plastic use, slums, drug abuse, environmental concerns, and maintaining a drug-free society.
Speaking on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ensuring housing for all, Gupta highlighted an ongoing survey in Panchkula to provide permanent residences for citizens, simultaneously working towards making the city slum-free.
Expressing concern about the impact of drug addiction on youth and families, Gupta applauded Chief Minister Shri Manohar Lal’s Cyclothon Yatra as a significant de-addiction campaign. He expressed optimism that such initiatives would raise awareness among the youth and redirect them towards education.
Gupta further outlined efforts to create a cleaner environment by making the city litter-free and planting more trees. As part of the Vikas Bharat Sankalp Yatra, health camps are being organized in villages, providing health benefits to the residents. Plans are underway to set up a comprehensive camp in village Nada to offer various facilities during the Sankalp Yatra. Priyanka Poonia, the State President of the Asma Foundation, highlighted the organization’s focus on education, environmental awareness, and women’s empowerment. She mentioned the operation of a library and the organization’s successful awareness programs in over 200 schools. The event saw the presence of notable figures, including Board President Rakesh, Banis Pundir, Darshan Singh, Jaspreet Goyat, Harish Lubana, Kuldeep, Poonam, Regional Officer Pollution VS Poonia, and Satyavan Bhardwaj.
