SENIOR IPS OFFICIALS VISITING HARYANA TO UNDERSTAND DIAL 112 PROJECT AND ITS BENEFITS

Dial 112 project that was launched last month has become the talk of the town and centre of discussions these days as senior IPS officers from other states are visiting Haryana to understand the functioning of the project so that they can launch this in their native states. In this series, SK Jha, ADGP of Madhya Pardesh, visited Panchkula, Police Headquarter, Haryana to learn all aspects of the project that brought laurels to the state police department as well as the government. Prior to this, it may be mentioned here that Haryana 112 is known for providing help to the citizens in emergency situations immediately after receiving the information. Recently, a seven-member delegation from Bihar Police had also visited Haryana and appreciated it. Thus, visiting the state to understand the implementation of the project clearly indicates that it continues to gain popularity across the country.  It is pertinent to mention that the Dial 112 project has been named as Emergency Response Support System (ERSS). Apart from the above, Dial 100, 101, and 108 for police, fire and health services respectively will remain in existence until the Dial 112 gets popularity among the people of the state. Once, the commoners get fully aware of the new initiative, then previous helpline numbers will no longer be in existence.  In continuation to this, calls made on 100, 101 and 108 would be received like earlier. It is worth mentioning that the Dial 112 initiative, a project worth about Rs 300 crore, is a 24×7 service and the staff members deployed at the control room work in three shifts, 32 in each shift at receiving and dispatch points.  Regarding the same, ADGP Telecom & IT Haryana A. S. Chawla said that the Dial 112 project is paving new paths to strengthen the law and order in the state. The Police department is committed to tightening the noose around the neck of criminals and the Dial is proving a gamechanger as the needy persons are being helped within a few minutes.  In continuation to the mentioned above, Jha visited the State Emergency Response Center at Panchkula and got information about the working of Haryana 112 and appreciated its successful implementation. During this, Chawla, who also holds the portfolio of nodal officer of Haryana 112 project, apprised him in detail about the working of 112 project. “Haryana 112”, a historic initiative launched by Haryana Police to provide police assistance to citizens in distress in the shortest possible time, has made a mark among the common people in a short period.
