Security forces in Poonch foil terror plot targeting top and politicians

Pir Panjal Region, Dec 29: In a successful counter-terrorism operation, security forces have disrupted a major plot hatched by Pakistan, aimed at executing targeted killings of “senior security forces personnel and high-profile politicians” in the Pir Panjal region. A substantial consignment of weapons, including pistols, magazines, and hand grenades, has been intercepted along the Line of Control (LoC).

According to sources within the security apparatus, a significant cache of arms and ammunition was uncovered in the Mendhar area. The seized weaponry includes three pistols, five magazines, and four grenades, all earmarked for a mission to target senior security forces personnel and influential politicians in the region.

The operation, led by the Indian Army, unfolded in the Kasblari region of Mendhar, strategically situated in close proximity to the Line of Control. The successful intervention by security forces has not only averted a potential crisis but has also underscored the proactive measures in place to protect national security in the face of external threats.

This foiled terror plot follows a tragic incident on the first day of 2023 when terrorists executed a major strike, resulting in the loss of seven civilian lives in the Dhangri area of Rajouri. The attackers had brazenly targeted civilian houses, highlighting the persistent threat of terrorism in the region.
