The demolition of the existing restroom and the construction of a new facility in Sector 46 B supermarket commenced on Wednesday, with Area Councilor Gurpreet Singh Gabi and the Public Health Corporation’s SE, Harjeet Singh, overseeing the process.
The construction of this new restroom block is estimated to cost around Rs 15 lakh. Councilor Gurpreet Gabi noted that the previous restroom was small and lacked a roof, causing inconvenience to people during the rainy season. After discussions with Chandigarh administration officials, additional space was allocated to enhance and open up the restroom. The new facility will be almost twice the size and will feature modern amenities.

Councilor Gabi mentioned that separate sections will be designated for women, transgenders, individuals with disabilities, and men. Automatic urinal pots will be installed for children, and the bathrooms will be adorned with designer tiles and equipped with hand dryers.

All installed equipment will be sourced from reputable companies, ensuring a high level of functionality. Furthermore, these restroom blocks will be geotagged and easily locatable through Google Maps.
