Search operation launched in Poonch amid suspicious movement

Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have initiated a search operation in Poonch following reports of suspicious movement by two individuals on Friday.
The search operation, focused in the Poonch area, comes after heightened vigilance was urged in the region. Earlier, Border Security Force (BSF) personnel in the Samba sector were placed on high alert subsequent to the thwarting of a potential infiltration bid along the International Border in Samba district.

According to official sources, the security forces encountered an individual attempting to breach the BSF fences along the international border during the early hours of Wednesday. Swift action by vigilant BSF troops led to the neutralization of the intruder.
“In the intervening night of May 1 and 2, 2024, the vigilant BSF troops observed a suspicious movement across the IB in the Samba border area, & an intruder was observed approaching towards the BSF fence. The alert troops neutralised one intruder & thwarted the infiltration attempt,” stated an official release from the Border Security Forces.The recent security measures underscore the proactive stance of security forces in maintaining border integrity and thwarting potential threats to national security. The ongoing search operation in Poonch reflects the concerted efforts to uphold the safety and security of the region.
