Six districts—Ranipet, Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, Chengalpet, and Vellore—have so far announced a holiday for schools. According to the Regional Metrology Department in Chennai, isolated areas of moderate thunderstorms and moderate rain are extremely likely to occur over the next three hours (7 am to 10 am) in the districts of Chennai, Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu, and Kanchipuram.
