In line with the directive from the Punjab government to provide seasonal fruits in mid-day meals at schools, the Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Senu Duggal, inaugurated the distribution of mid-day meals to students at Government Girls Senior Secondary School today. Dr. Duggal stated that Fazilka is the largest producer of kinnow in Punjab, and including kinnow in mid-day meals will increase its consumption, directly benefiting farmers across the district. He mentioned that students will be provided with kinnow fruit in their mid-day meals every week.
The DC remarked that kinnow is highly beneficial for students’ health due to its medicinal properties, as it contains Vitamin C which boosts immunity and reduces the risk of illnesses. Additionally, it contains several other useful nutrients beneficial for human health. On this occasion, Sub-Divisional Education Officer Anju Bala and Principal Swatantra Bala were also present.
