SCHOOLS IN 22 DISTRICTS OF HARYANA TO BE NAMED AFTER MARTYRS

In order to honour the martyrs, the names of schools across all 22 districts will be named after the martyrs hailing from there. Haryana government has announced to start the process and in this series, as many as 65 government schools in the Jind district have been named after martyrs. It came to light that schools had been named after martyrs after the proposals were submitted by the gram panchayat concerned and a list provided by the local office of the Military and ParaMilitary Welfare Department. Besides, the process of naming schools in villages falling in Charkhi Dadri and Bhiwani has been initiated and soon the same is most likely to take place in Gurugram. Further, the schools in all districts will be named after the names of martyrs hailing from the concerned villages before the freedom day on 15 August. It is a noticeable fact that no objection report was also taken on schools from the officials of the education department in Haryana.

It also came to know that the administrative officials in all districts will visit each martyr’s village before August 15 to honour their family and carry out a plantation programme at the school named after them Regarding this, the Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala said that 65 schools have been named in Jind district after those martyrs who had sacrified their lives in the wars of 1962, 1965, 1971 and those who gave supreme sacrifice during various operations against terrorists. 10 percent of army soldiers and personnel hail from Haryana which is a matter of pride for the state. Naming government schools after martyrs is being considered another step to honour the martyrs and their families as well as it will be a source of inspiration for youngsters along with providing the opportunity to know about the martyr of their village. It is pertinent to mention that a martyrs memorial was built in Kaithal in 2013 which contains the name along with details about the martyrs in bid to pay them homage and respect.
