Despite the biting cold in the state, the School Education Department has not increased the holidays, but is preparing to take action against private schools that have not implemented the orders for changes in timings.
As per information, after the opening of schools on Monday, many parents complained to the department that schools have not made changes in their timings, resulting in students and teachers being called to school as early as 9 AM. Consequently, there is a risk of them being exposed to the cold.
It is worth noting that in view of the safety of students and teachers, orders for changes in timings from January 1st to 14th were issued to all government, aided, and private schools. According to these orders, the opening time for all schools has been set at 10 AM and the closing time at 3 PM.
The Assistant Director of Education Department stated in a letter released on Tuesday that some private schools ignored the department’s orders and did not make any changes to their school timings. Consequently, taking action on this issue, all District Education Officers (DEOs) have been directed to immediately issue notices to such schools, provide reasons, and send a report to the Director of the Education Department’s Punjab office.
