Preeti Chandra, the wife of former Unitech promoter Sanjay Chandra, was granted bail by the Delhi High Court on Wednesday in a case involving money laundering. The Delhi High Court, at the request of the ED’s attorney, stated that the ruling might not take effect until Friday since the ED must contest it.
Last year, when they were collecting money from home buyers for housing projects, the ED detained Ramesh Chandra, the founder of the Unitech Group, Preeti Chandra (Sanjay Chandra’s wife), and Rajesh Malik of the Carnoustie Group. The ED claims that the sum was not utilised for the intended purpose, nevertheless. The trial court declined Preeti Chandra’s request for bail in November 2022.
The ED claims that Unitech Ltd., where the co-accused Ajay Chandra and Sanjay Chandra are Directors and the accused Ramesh Chandra is the Chairman, collected money from home buyers for housing projects.
