SC eliminates paper documents and offers free WiFi to lawyers, petitioners and others

The Supreme Court returned on Monday after the summer recess with a paperless and technologically advanced setup that included free WiFi for attorneys, litigants, and other visitors.

The top court has enabled free Wi-Fi in Courts 1 through 5, and soon it will be available in bar rooms, according to Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud. There won’t be any books or documents, the Chief Justice added, but it doesn’t mean they won’t rely on them at all.

The construction of numerous technical facilities, including as more displays and improved video conferencing capabilities, has given the highest court’s courtrooms a contemporary look.

As part of the e-initiatives in the Supreme Court of India, the facility of free Wi-Fi is made available for Advocates, Litigants, Media persons, and other stakeholders visiting the Supreme Court of India.

For the present, this facility will be available at the Chief Justice’s Court, Court Nos. 2 to 5 including corridor and Plaza in front, both waiting areas in front of the plaza canteen, and Press Lounge-I & II with effect from July 3.

The facility will be extended to all the Court Rooms and adjoining areas, Bar Library-I & II, Ladies’ Bar Room and Bar Lounge in a phased manner.
